Introduction
This SUV lends its design to the LX 470 from Toyota's luxury Lexus division. They share a 265-hp V8 engine and 5-speed automatic transmisson. All-wheel drive with low-range gearing is standard. ABS, traction/antiskid control, and three-row, eight-passenger seating are standard. Optional is the same suspension system used in LX 470; it offers driver-adjustable ride height and shock absorber firmness. Also optional are front side airbags with curtain side airbags covering the first two seating rows. Other options include DVD entertainment, and a navigation system with rearview camera.
When considering the purchase of a new vehicle, it's important to keep in mind what the eventual resale value will be. It is expected that the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser will have a very good resale value. This assumes that after 3 to of 5 years of ownership the vehicle will be in good condition. Other factors include the optional equipment you choose and the total mileage on your vehicle.
History
Toyota's costliest full-size SUV has smaller dimensions than the company's newer Sequoia. The Land Cruiser has a heritage that dates back to the 1950s — Toyota's early days in the U.S. market. In recent years, the Land Cruiser has been the slowest-selling member of the company's sport utility vehicle lineup. A substantial face-lift for 2006 resulted in new headlamps and taillamps and a new grille. For 2007, Land Cruisers get standard side-impact airbags for the front seats, as well as side curtain airbags for the first two rows.
Technology
The 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser is a 4-door, 8-passenger luxury sport-utility, available in one trim only, the 4X4.
Upon introduction, the Land Cruiser is equipped with a standard 4.7-liter, V8, 275-horsepower engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 17-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
These truck-based SUV twins ride on one of the oldest platforms around. Although they haven't been substantially changed in years, they're still solid performers, particularly off road. The only difference between them is a higher level of luxury in the Lexus LX470 and whatever cachet the name imparts.
The 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser is a carryover from 2006.
